John Crouch Obituary

To those of you who love me, please know I love you too. For every bit of happiness I’ve known was all because of you.

John A. Crouch (92) passed away at home on March 1, 2024. He was born to his parents, Frank and Angelina Crouch On January 15, 1932. He was predeceased by his two sons-in-law, Joseph Solian and Tadeusz Majka. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Kathleen (Reed); beloved daughters, Laura Solian, Gioia (Thomas Martin) Hill, Cathleen Majka and Carolyn Kleitz; cherished grandchildren, Jamie(Shaun) Nannery, Gabriella and Sophia Majka, Chloe and his favorite grandson Marine CPL Ethan Kleitz (who is currently serving in Okinawa, as his Papa did many years before him);  great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Foster, Shaughn and Amelia, and members of the Pronti and Reed families.

After serving as a Military Policeman in the United States Air Force, he worked for the City of Binghamton until he retired in 1991, A & P, and the Grand Union. John was a long standing member of Saints John and Andrew Parish and his faith brought him much comfort. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 206 for many years and volunteered at the Loaves and Fishes food pantry.

He was a true family man, who loved the holidays, Sunday spaghetti dinners, summer barbecues, yearly vacations on Cape Cod and father daughter Christmas trips to New York City. He always had a happy, outgoing personality. If he wasn’t on the phone he loved getting together with his good friends to solve the problems of the world (in other words- he loved to talk).  He loved his N.Y. Giants, Yankees and B.U. basketball, workouts at the gym, and rarely missed breakfast with friends at Manni’s Donut Shop. A few years ago, he was grateful to have had the opportunity to travel to Italy, and also to be a part in the Twin Tiers Honor Flight.

We were blessed to have you in our lives for all these years, and though we will miss you immensely we will hold dear all the memories we have made, always and forever. It has and will always be an honor and a privilege to call you Dad and Papa, but most especially to call you ours.

It’s now our turn to say to you what you always said to us at the end of every phone call, “ I love you and You be good.”

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 12Noon at Saints John and Andrew Church in Binghamton.  The family will receive friends from 11am until the time of the mass.
