Dean Leeson Obituary

Dean Charles Leeson, 73, of Binghamton, New York, passed away peacefully with his family by his side to be with the Lord April 14, 2024, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier, NY. He was born on January 20, 1951, in Syracuse, NY and grew up on the south side of the city. Dean’s life was a testament to his power of faith, family, and friendship. He graduated from Central Tech High School in Syracuse and attended several advanced courses in television engineering technical training. He spent over 58 years working in television engineering and sales and was able to travel the world working for companies such as Phillips Electronics, BTS Television Systems, Camera Mart and Microtime. Dean made many friends in the television industry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Susan Lee-Leeson; his brother David (Mary) Leeson, Baldwinsville, NY, his two children Brian Charles Leeson of Beverly Hills, Florida and Kristen Ruth Leeson (Albert Hemingway) of Syracuse, NY, his stepdaughter Cheryl Anne (Daryl) Clemons of Watertown, NY. Dean’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, Wilson Mukrdechian, Makenzie Clemons, Alexander (MiKayla) Seargent, Declan Hemingway and family members Becca and Emma Seargent. He was blessed to also have a wonderful great grandchild, Oliver Seargent. He spent many years boating, fishing, skiing and woodworking with them.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles Richard Leeson, Sylvia Elaine Thomas Leeson, his stepmom, Gertrude Leeson, his sister Diane Elaine Story. Dean believed in giving back by volunteering for the local Fire departments including Moyers Corners, Station 3, Syracuse, NY and Five Mile Point, Kirkwood, NY where he held positions of President, Vice President, Lieutenant, Captain and fire fighter for over 54 years. He also became a Fire Service Instructor with national certification. To satisfy his love for music, he joined the Brigadiers Drum Corp in Syracuse NY in 1970. He played, performed, and marched for over 20 years. His other passions included boating on the St. Lawrence River, fishing, camping, designing, and making furniture and he was an avid wooden bowl turner in his later years.
Dean’s Celebration of Life will be held on April 27, 2024, at the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main Street, Vestal, NY. Calling hours begin at 9:30 am with services following at 11:00 am.
