Eugene Briggs Jr

Eugene F. Briggs Jr. 77, of Kirkwood, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2017. He is predeceased by his parents Eugene Sr. and Ruth Briggs; sisters Judith Hammitt and JoAnne Peterson;  granddaughter Christa Briggs. He is survived by his wife Sandra Briggs; sons Eugene (Martha) Briggs III, Scott Briggs, daughter Cynthia McMahon; grandchildren Ryan, Gabrielle, Connor, Brooklynn, Olivia, Eve; brother Edward (Margaret) Briggs; sister Marie Briggs; brother in-law Robert Peterson; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He proudly served in the U.S Marines Corps. Eugene worked for UPS for 25 years and then went on to work as the president of the local Teamsters Union for several terms. He was a member of the Binghamton Elks Club Lodge 70 and the American Legion Post 1645. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Kirkwood where he held several volunteer positions. Visitation will be held on Friday at the THOMAS J. SHEA Funeral Home Inc. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904 from 5 until 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Kirkwood, NY on Saturday at 11am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lourdes Hospice 4102 Old Vestal Rd. Vestal, NY 13850 in Eugene’s memory.
